Plants medium-sized, ca. 20 mm high, pale yellowish or reddish brown, in loose tufts. Stems more or less reddish, with few rhizoids at base. Leaves erect-spreading when dry, ovate, acuminate at apex; margins narrowly recurved, serrulate near apex, bordered by 2–3 rows of narrower, yellowish, thick-walled cells; costae ending below the apex or shortly excurrent, green to brown; median leaf cells narrowly rhomboidal, ca. 16–30 µm wide. Autoicous. Setae elongate, 20–40 mm long, curved; capsules oblong-pyriform; neck as long as urn; opercula shortly apiculate; exostome teeth not hyaline, papillose; cilia absent. Spores 30–36 µm in diameter.
