Plants medium-sized to rather large, yellow to dark green. Stems usually erect, to 4 cm long, irregularly multi-branched; pseudoparaphyllia present. Stem leaves imbricate when dry, erect-spreading when moist, broadly ovate, 2.2–2.4 mm × 1.0–1.3 mm, concave, gradually acuminate at the apex, slightly decurrent at the base; margins serrulate above, entire below; costae single, reaching ca. 2/3 the leaf length; branch leaves smaller, median leaf cells oval to rounded oblong, 8–12 µm long, thick-walled, often prorate; basal cells elongate, often with a row of brownish cells at the insertion; alar cells somewhat differentiated. Perigonial leaves ovate, shortly acuminate, ecostate; upper cells prorate. Inner perichaetial leaves elliptical, ca. 3.2 mm long, concave, gradually acuminate; margins recurved, serrulate above; costae subpercurrent; cells linear-rhomboidal, prorate; basal cells brown, papillose, or sometimes smooth. Setae ca. 0.1 mm long; capsules obovoid; opercula conic, bluntly apiculate, smooth; annuli consisting of a row of thin-walled cells; columella often persistent; exothecial cells shortly to irregularly rectangular, roughened on the surfaces; peristome double; exostome teeth linear, ca. 250 µm long, papillose; endostome segments as long as the teeth, linear, papillose; Spores 45–50 µm in diameter, minutely papillose.
