Plants small to medium-sized, greenish brown to greenish yellow. Stems weakly creeping, branches to 2.5 cm long, moderately tomentose below. Leaves strongly keeled, erect below, spirally twisted around stems to flexuose‑incurved above when dry, erect‑spreading when wet, 1.7–2.3 mm long (to 3.0 mm long with intact leaf tips), 0.5 mm wide, lanceolate; apices abruptly rounded to long (1 mm), fragile, multistratose subulae; margins entire to obscurely crenulate by bulging cell walls, recurved below, plane to weakly recurved above, enlarged basal teeth at leaf insertion present; costae percurrent; upper interior cells 4–6 μm, quadrate, at times weakly rounded, smooth to weakly bulging, upper marginal cells not differentiated, basal cells 16–26 μm long, rectangular, incrassate and porose, tuberculate. Setae 5–6 mm long, smooth. Capsules to 2 mm long, cylindric‑ovoid, furrowed; annulus and mature operculum not seen; exostome teeth 16, short, truncate and united forming a papillose, reddish orange membrane, endostome hyaline, weakly papillose. Spores anisosporous, 17–20 μm and 32–40 μm. Calyptrae mitrate, strongly laciniate, naked, 3 mm long.
