Annotation:
TL-2 does not mention R. Brown as somebody who also contributed to this book – indeed, R. Brown is not mentioned there (it would have been curious if he would have been responsible for a part of the text of a German book, he was British). The conclusion is that the n. comb. should be given as H. microstomum (Hedw.) Nees & Hornschuch. In the list on p. 192, and on p. 199, they mention the basionym author Hedwig, and under the heading Tab. XII. Fig. 4, they have a reference to Brown’s publication, as if in that place, the latter already had the new. comb. – Brown had not.
It might be proper to use ‘ex’, then it would have been “(Hedw.) R. Brown ex Nees & Hornschuch”
