Ecology: Montane forest; on shrubs, trunk and branches of treelets and trees. Elevation: 1850-4050 m (Venezuela: 2400 m, Colombia: 1850-3800 m, Ecuador: 2800 m, Peru: 2800-4050 m, Bolivia: 2400-2438 m). Distribution: Endemic to the tropical Andes.
 
Streptopogon lindigii, like S. cavifolius, is a rare species throughout the tropical Andes. This species is similar to S. erythrodontus with the long acuminate leaf apex, but differs from that species by the absence of a marginal border. Synonyms include Streptopogon latifolius Mitt. and Streptopogon setiferus Mitt.
 
Streptopogon lindigii, así como S. cavifolius, es una especie rara en los Andes tropicales. Esta especie es similar a S. erythrodontus con los ápices de las hojas largo-acuminados, pero esta especie se diferencia por la ausencia de un borde marginal.
