Plants slender, pale yellowish to brownish, in compact tufts. Main stems prostrate, remotely irregularly branched. Leaves appressed when dry, erect-spreading when moist, oblong ovate-lanceolate to narrowly lanceolate, acuminate at apex, concave, 1.0–1.25 mm long; margins at times reflexed in middle, entire, sometimes serrulate at apex; costae absent; leaf cells elongate-rhomboidal, linear toward leaf apex, 25–55 mm × 3–5 mm, moderately thick- to thick-walled, pitted; alar region consisting of one row of rectangular, somewhat inflated cells, with several rows of quadrate cells above. Monoicous. Perigonial leaves smaller. Inner perichaetial leaves broadly lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, shortly or long acuminate, nearly entire or denticulate at apex. Setae less than 15 mm long; capsules horizontal to pendent, ovoid to ellipsoidal, constricted at mouth when dry; opercula long rostrate.
