Plants medium-sized, glossy, in compact mats. Stems prostrate, irregularly branched; branches 10–12 mm long, 1.0–1.25 mm wide, slightly arcuate. Leaves dense, erect-spreading, somewhat falcate, oblong to lanceolate, less than 2 mm long, concave, leaf acumen about 1/8 the entire leaf length; margins plane, nearly entire below, narrowly reflexed and serrulate from shoulder to apex; leaf cells narrowly fusiform, 45–70 mm long, unipapillose, slightly incrassate, pitted, becoming shorter upward, thick-walled; alar cells inflated, colored, often thick-walled, in one row.
