Ecology: On soil. Distribution: Endemic to the tropical Andes (Ecuador and Peru).
 
This species is known from two imprecise localities one each in Ecuador and Peru. The elevation is likewise not well defined; the Peruvian collection is stated as 200-700 m (Gallego & Cano 2007), the Ecuador collection is much higher in elevation..
