Ecology. Humid puna; on soil and rocks along stream; Elevation. 4200-4500 m. Distribution. Bolivia: Cochabamba, La Paz. World range: Widespread, common in the Northern Hemisphere, few scattered localities in the montane regions of the Neotropics.
 
Ecología. Puna húmeda; sobre suelo y rocas a lo largo de arroyos; Altitud. 4200-4500 m. Distribución. Bolivia: Cochabamba y La Paz. Distribución mundial: Amplia distribución, común en el hemisferio norte, poco esparcido en localidades en las regiones montañosas del Neotrópico.
 
Drepanocladus polygamus is distinguished from all other species by the spreading distal portion of the leaf from an erect base, and somewhat abruptly subulate leaf apex channeled; the costa is mostly single, 1/3-1/2 the leaf length, rarely double. Campylium polygamum var. latifolium Herzog, collected by Herzog from Llavetal (Llave Valley), is a synonym.
 
Drepanocladus polygamus se distingue de las otras especies por la porción distal de la hoja patente desde una base erecta y ápice de la hoja acanalado algo abruptamente subulado; costa generalmente simple, ocupando 1/3-1/2 de la longitud de la hoja, rara vez doble. Campylium polygamum var. latifolium Herzog, colectado por Herzog en Llavetal (Llave Valley), como un sinónimo.
