Described by Crum in 2001, this species is only known from the type collection made by Price in 1999 from a disturbed forest next to mining camp (Department of La Paz). Sphagnum noryungasense is distinguished by the unistratose hyalodermis of stem and branch stems, absence of fibrils and pores, similar size and ovate shaped stem and branch leaves (to 1.5 mm), marginal resorption furrows, cucullate leaf apices, narrowly exposed chlorocysts on both surfaces, few pseudopores on outer surface, numerous round, ringed pores on the inner surface. Assigned to section Subsecunda.
 
Descrita por Crum en 2001, esta especie sólo es conocida por la colección tipo realizada por Price en 1999 en un bosque alterado cerca de un campo minero (departamento de La Paz). Sphagnum noryungasense se distingue por tener hialodermis uniestratificada en los tallos y ramas, hojas tallo y rama (a 1.5 mm) similares en tamaño y forma ovada, sin fibrillas ni poros, canales de resorción marginales, ápices de las hojas cuculados, clorocistos angostamente expuestos en ambas superficies, pocos pseudoporos en la superficie externa, numerosos poros redondeados, anillados en la superficie interna. Asignada a la sección Subsecunda.

Plants pale green, small, to 6 cm. Stems pale green, cortex 1-layered, pores absent; wood cylinder pale green, scarcely differentiated. Stem leaves similar to branch leaves, ovate, 1.2-1.3 mm, concave, margins narrowly bordered; hyaline cells fibrillose throughout, often 1-divided, especially toward the base, on the outer surface with numerous elliptic pores and pseudopores at commissures, on the inner surface more numerous pores but few pseudopores. Branches 2-fasciculate (1 weaker and pendent). Branch leaves broadly ovate, 1.3-1.8 mm; hyaline cells on the outer surface with numerous elliptic pores at the commissures, on the inner surface with numerous pores but few pseudopores scattered at the commissures; in cross-section green cells narrowly exposed on both surfaces. Crum 2001.

Plantas verde pálidas, pequeñas, hasta 6 cm. Tallos verde pálidos, corteza uniestratificada, poros ausentes; cilindro leñoso verde pálido, escasamente diferenciado. Hojas del tallo similares a las hojas de las ramas, ovadas, 1.2-1.3 mm, cóncavas, márgenes angostamente bordeados; células hialinas completamente fibrilosas, a menudo divididas una vez, especialmente hacia la base, superficie externa de la comisura con numerosos poros elípticos y pseudoporos, superficie interna con mayor número de poros pero pocos pseudoporos. Ramas 2-fasciculadas (1 débil y pendiente).
