Plants delicate, yellowish green, in small patches. Stems 1.0–1.5 cm long, creeping and spreading, irregularly branched to 1- or 2-pinnately branched; paraphyllia filamentous, densely on stems, apical cells sharp. Stem leaves remote, widely cordate or widely ovate, apex short, 0.5 mm long; margins serrate; costa ending below
leaf apex; leaf cells rounded hexagonal, unipapillose; branch leaves widely ovate, with a short apex, squarrose when moist. Autoicous. Sporophytes on main stems. Perigonial leaves concave, widely ovate, suddenly narrowed to a short lanceolate apex. Perichaetial leaves oblong-lanceolate, with a long acuminate apex; margins shortly ciliate above, ca. 1 mm long. Setae erect, curved above, 2 cm long; capsules oblong-ovoid, horizontal or declined, ca. 2–5 cm long; peristome double; exostome teeth lanceolate, hyaline near apex, densely papillose, trabeculate; endostome segments lightly yellowish; basal membrane ca. 2/5 the segment length; cilia 2, weak, short, nodulose. Spores large, 18 µm in diameter, papillose.
