Castrea A. St. Hil. See Eichler 1868: 96, Obs. I (“Castraea”). The status of this name is not clear. See

    especially Trelease (1916: 6), who gives an extensive quote from St. Hilaire but feels the latter's

    comments are insufficient to include the name as a synonym of Phoradendron. An authenticated

    specimen does not appear to exist. St. Hilaire uses the full name Castrea falcata, a plant from Brazil.
