Trees or shrubs. Leaves alternate, 3-nerved at base, serrate or entire; stipules linear, small and caducous. Flowers staminate and hermaphrodite, appearing with the leaves, staminate or hermaphrodite in axillary clusters. Sepals (4-) 5-6, free. Stamens as many as anthers, yellow. Ovary 1-celled, ovoid. Styles 2-5 mm., simple or 2-3 branched. Fruit a fleshy drupe.
