Perennial or annual herbs. Calyx 5-partite into obtuse lobes. Corolla ± campanulate with a short broad tube. Throat appendages present. Stamens included. Gynobase ± prismatic. Nutlets variously attached to gynobase, not decurrent on style, with margin of wing entire or dentate; appendages usually glochidiate, middle area of nutlet ovate.
