Root-parasites with white, yellow, or purple, pedicellate flowers on usually corymbose racemes. Calyx tubular, 2-5-toothed or lobed above. Corolla-tube long, limb subequally 5-lobed, obscurely 2-lipped. Stamens included or subexserted; anthers with one or both cells perfect, 1 cell or 1 pair of anthers spurred or appendaged. Ovary 1-celled or falsely 2-celled, with 2 bifid placentae. Style long with an incurved tip bearing a large, 2-lobed stigma. Capsules ovoid or subglobose, loculicidal, many-seeded. Seeds very small, with striated walls; embryo half as long as the endosperm.
