Generic limits
of Albizia are controversial, with some authors restricting the group to
70–110 species occurring mostly in Asia and other authors broadening the
circumscription to about 150 species in tropical and warm-temperate regions of
both hemispheres (Elias, 1974; Nielsen, 1981). The solitary species introduced
in Missouri is part of the core complex of the genus.
