Description
|
Shrubs. Leaves large, elliptic, lacking cystoliths, petioled. Inflorescences in loose, terminal spikes, the bracts and the bractlets large and conspicuously colored. Flowers with calyx of 5 equal segments; corolla bilabiate, salverform, the upper lip bifid, the lower lip 3-lobed; stamens 2, the anthers 2-celled; stigma subcapitate; capsules clavate, 4-seeded, the seeds borne on hooklike funicles.
