General/Distribution: A genus of about 10 species, distributed mainly in the tropics of Asia and Africa; represented in Pakistan by only one species.

Trees or shrub. Leaves opposite, entire, membranous, mostly ovate or ovate-lanceolate. Inflorescence many flowers of terminal or sub-axillary corymbose cymes. Flower white. Calyx 5-lobed, glandular within, lobes small. Corolla salverform, tube narrow, cylindrical, throat contracted, naked, lobes oblong, overlapping to the left in bud. Stamens 5, included, inserted near base of tubes; filament short; anthers not connivent with stigma. Disc absent. Carpels 2; style short, filiform; stigma oblong or fusiform, tips entire or somewhat 2 lobed, ovules many in each locule. Follicles 2, elongated, incurved, circular, many seeded. Seeds linear or oblong with a deciduous coma, compressed and concave.
