General/Distribution: Largely an American genus with about 100 species. Only 2 are frequently encountered in Asia, Jacquemontia paniculata and Jacquemontia pentantha. These appear to be vicarious equivalents, the former from Asia and the latter from the Americas. The American species is cultivated in Pakistan.
