Draba solitaria O. E. Schulz in Engler, Pflanzenr. IV. 105(Heft 89): 155. 1927. TYPE: Peru, Dep. Ancash, Prov. Pallasca, Cordillera de Pelagatos, 4450 m, 28 Jan 1920, A. Weberbauer 7235 (holotype, B!; isotypes, F!, G!, US!).

     Subshrubs or suffrutescent herbs; caudex woody, branches covered with foliar remains of previous years. Stems 3–20 cm, erect to ascending, tomentose with sessile stellate trichomes. Leaves densely overlapping; petiole absent; leaf blade oblong to elliptic or narrowly ovate, (5–)6.5–8.5(–10) × 2–3 mm, abaxially tomentose with sessile stellate trichomes to 0.4 mm in diam. and with some rays forked or trif­id, adaxially sparsely to densely covered with simple and forked or substel­late trichomes, base cuneate, margin entire, apex subobtuse. Racemes densely flowered, corymbose, not elongat­ed in fruit, bracteate throughout; bracts similar to cauline leaves; fruiting pedicel straight, divaricate to ascending, (1–)2–5(–7) mm, stellate pubescent. Flowers: sepals oblong, erect, usually cadu­cous, 3–3.6(–4) × 1.5–2 mm, pubescent with stellate trichomes, base not saccate; petals lemon yellow to yel­lowish white, obovate, (4–)5–6 × 2–2.5 mm, cuneate to a short clawlike base; anthers ovate-oblong, 0.4–0.8 mm; nectar glands confluent, subtending bases of all filaments; ovules 18–20 per ovary. Fruit ovoid to broadly oblong, 4–6.5 × 3–4 mm, compressed; valves puberulent with short, simple and forked tri­chomes; style slender, 0.8–1.7 mm. Seeds brown, ovate, compressed, 1–1.2 × 0.8–0.9 mm.

Flowering: Jan.

Habitat: páramo.

Elevation: 4050–4600 m.
