12. Thelypodium rollinsii Al-Shehbaz, Contr. Gray Herb. 204: 97. 1973. TYPE: United States, Utah, Juab Co., alkaline flats and meadows in the vicinity of Sevier River, about 12 miles N of Sccipio on U.S. Hwy 91, 29 July 1969, I. A. Al-Shehbaz & M. Al-Shehbaz 6913 (holotype, GH!)

     Herbs, biennial, glabrous and glaucous throughout. Stems (4–)6–16(–20) dm, erect, branched above, solid. Basal leaves petiole 0.5–1.3(–1.5) cm, not ciliate; blade spatulate or sometimes oblanceolate to obovate, 1.3–4(–7) x (0.4–)0.6–1.3(–1.8) cm, dentate to repand or rarely entire; middle and upper cauline leaves (1.8–)1.3–4.5(–6) cm× (1–)1.7–7(–8) mm, sessile, linear to linear-lanceolate, auriculate or sometimes sagittate at base, erect and partly to completely appressed to stem, entire. Racemes densely flowered, slightly elongated in fruit; flower buds narrowly oblong; fruiting pedicels straight, horizontal to divaricate or rarely divaricate-ascending, slender, often not flattened at base, (6–)7–14(–18) mm. Sepals linear to linear-oblong or rarely oblong, erect, 4–6(–7) x (0.8–)1–1.5 mm; petals lavender to purple, spatulate to obovate or oblong, (6–)7–9.5(–12) x (1.2–)1.5–2(–3) mm, not crisped, differentiated into blade and claw; claw 3–4.5(–5.5) mm, slender; filaments tetradynamous, median pairs (5–)5.5–7.5(–8.5) mm, lateral pair (4–)5–6.5(7.5) mm; anthers linear to linear-oblong, 2–3(–4) mm, not circinately coiled, exserted; nectar glands confluent, subtending bases of all stamens; ovules 52–70 per ovary. Fruits (1.8–)2.8–5(–6.3) cm x 0.7–1 mm, erect distally, terete, strongly incurved or rarely straight and divaricate-ascending, slightly torulose; gynophore 0.5–2.5(–6) mm; style cylindrical, (0.5–)0.8–1.5(–2) mm; stigma entire. Seeds 1–1.3(–1.5) x 0.5–0.6(–0.8) mm.

Flowering Jun–Aug.

Habitat: alkaline flats.

Elevation: 1500–2000 m.
