     Herbs perennial, pulvinate; caudex usually many branched, the branches short and densely grouped or long and lax, each covered with petiolelike remains of previous years. Scapes (2–)5–20(–40) cm, erect, stellate pubescent or sometimes covered with simple trichomes. Leaves rosulate, densely imbricate; petiolelike leaf base indurate, persistent; leaf blade broadly obovate to oblong or oblanceolate, (2–)3–7(–10) × 1.5–2.5(–4) mm, abaxially white tomentose with sessile or stalked stellate trichomes with simple or forked rigid rays, adaxially pilose to substrigose with antrorse, appressed simple trichomes, base cuneate, margin entire, apex rounded. Inflorescences corymbose racemes, subumbellate, slightly elongated in fruit; bracts absent or lowermost flowers bracteate; fruiting pedicel divaricate, straight or slightly curved, (1–)1.5–4(–7) mm, pubescent with stellate trichomes sometimes mixed with simple ones. Sepals erect, oblong, 1.5–2(–2.5) mm, caducous, usually stellate pubescent, base not saccate; petals white or creamy white, spatulate, (1.6–)1.8–2.2(–3) × 0.7–1(–1.5) mm, apex obtuse or subemarginate; filaments white, (0.6–)1–1.5 mm, dilated at base; anthers ovate, 0.3–0.5 mm; nectar glands confluent, subtending bases of all filaments; ovules 1416 per ovary. Fruit ovate to suborbicular or oblong, compressed or somwhat plump, (2–)2.5–4(–6) × (1–)1.5–2.5(–3.5) mm; valves stellate pubescent; style subconical, 0.3–0.7(–0.8) mm. Seeds brown, ovate, compressed, 0.7–1 × 0.5–0.6 mm.

Flowering: sporadically throughout the year.

Habitat: needle ice zone, rock ledges and crevices, puna, dry slopes.

Elevation: 4200–5000(–5740 ) m.

Distribution: Peru (Ancash, Ayacucho, Cuzco, Huancavelica, Junín, Lima).
