Flower/Fruit: Fl.Per.: April-June.
Type: Type: Iran, Shiraz, Kotschy 380 (W).
Distribution: Distribution: Iran, Turcomania, Afghanistan and W. Pakistan.
Comment/Acknowledgements: It does not deserve a status more than that of a subspecies of C.cordifolia, and the only distinguishing character seems to be its slightly thicker and less in¬cised leaves, usually sparsely hairy (sometimes almost glabrous) stems and more rounded fruits. Some of the Baluchi specimens have very coarsely toothed leaves, and the character seem to be overlapping that of the type subspecies; fruit size is very variable.

Leaves and roots are cooked and edible, flowers produce nectar, and plant as whole is a good fodder for camels and goats. It may be utilized in distilleries because of sufficient quantity of starch and sugar in it.
