Description
|
Stemless or short-caulescent, 24-35 cm. high. Leaves many in a dense cyathiform rosette, 15 cm. long; sheaths 5 cm. long, dark castaneous; blades ligulate, acuminate, flat, 15 mm. wide, green. Scape erect, slender. Scape- bracts foliaceous, densely imbricate. Inflorescence dense- ly subcapitate, 35 mm. long, 75 mm. in diameter. Pri- mary bracts ovate, acuminate, green, much exceeding the flowers, the lower ones with 2 flowers in each axil. Branches aborted. Floral bracts broadly elliptic, up to 12 mm. long, exceeded by the sepals, membranaceous, densely brown-punctulate. Flowers subsessile. Sepals broadly elliptic, obtuse, 14 mm. long, 11 mm. wide, thin- coriaceous, brown-punctulate.
