Gymnosiphon tenellus (Benth.) Urb., Symb. Antill. 3: 438. 1903; Ptychomeria tenella Benth.

Hierbas 5–15 cm de alto. Hojas ovadas, 0.7–3 mm de largo y 0.6–1.5 mm de ancho, ápice agudo, blancas. Cincinos 0.5–1.5 cm de largo, cada uno con 1–4 (–8) flores, flores sésiles o con pedicelos hasta 1 mm de largo; flores erectas, 7–12 mm de largo, blancas a blanco-moradas; tubo floral 5.5–9.5 mm de largo; tépalos exteriores 2.5–4 mm de largo. Cápsula globosa a ampliamente elipsoide, hasta 3 mm de largo y 2.5 mm de ancho; semillas (0.2–) 0.4–0.5 mm de largo y 0.2 mm de ancho.

Rara en bosques húmedos, zona atlántico norte; 100–150 m; fl y fr oct; Coronado 2457; Honduras a Brasil, también en Jamaica.
