Type-Protologue

Locality: Brazil: Goiás: Cerrado, ca. 10 km W of Cristalina, elev. 1200 m, subshrub ca. 2 m tall, the paniculate inflorescence ca. 1.5 m high, corolla yellow, fruit green, 4 Mar 1966

Collector and Number: Irwin, Grear, Souza & Reis dos Santos 13438

Distribution: Brazil (Goiás)

Note: Fonseca & Lohmann (2019) indicate that Gentry (1974) "designated the specimen H.S. Irwin 13438A deposited at UB as the holotype" and that "13438A belong to a different species." They consequently select a Neotype — Irwin 13438. The first statement is not true, the protologue indicate 13438 and not 13438A. The second statement may be true, but irrelevant. The Neotypification is superflous as it designate the IT at MO. The Neotypification could become relevant if the situation is that there is no 13438 at UB, but only a 13438A. In this case the Neotypification should have been a Lectotypification [PMJ 2020]
