Annual, decumbent herb, upto 30 cm tall. Stem spreading, branched from  the base, leafy, branches densely appressedly strigose, mixed with stipitate glandular hairs, mostly in the upper halves. Leaves with fine appressed hairs mixed with scattered glistening glands, basal leaves withering at anthesis, petiole winged, with clasping base, lamina oblanceolate, obtuse, entire, cauline leaves mostly sessile or attenuate, tapering into a small petiole, lamina 1–3 cm long,  0.2 – 0.5 cm wide,  margins entire, strigose–ciliate, obtuse–acute. Capitula terminal,  solitary or 2–4 at the end of branches, 1.5–2 cm across. Involucre hemispheric. Phyllaries 2–seriate, herbaceous, acuminate, villous–strigose, mixed with stipitate glands, outer ones 4.5–6 mm long, 1–2 mm wide, lanceolate, inner ones 7–8 mm long, 0.8–1.2 mm wide, lanceolate–linear, erose, membranaceous. Ray florets 25–35, purplish–blue, 10–12 mm long, 1–2 mm wide, tube 1.2–2 mm long, somewhat hairy. Disc florets 3–4.5 mm long, corolla tube 0.8–1.2 mm long, limb campanulate, 2.2 – 3.4 mm long including 5 unequal lobes; larger one, 1–1.2 mm long, remaining 4 lobes 0.6–0.8 mm long. Cypselas heteromorphic, ray cypselas 2.5 mm long, ca  1.1 mm wide,  pale olive, obovate, black mottled, somewhat compressed,  strigose, indistinctly 2–3 ribbed, Pappus uniseriate, scaly, 3–5 mm long;  disc cypselas ca 2.2 mm long, ca 1 mm wide, straw coloured, obovate, compressed, somewhat mottled, distinctly 2–ribbed. pappus biseriate, outer ones paleaceous, ca 0.5 mm long, inner bristles stiff, ca 4 mm long, buff.
