Annotation: Nom. illeg. superfl. Gray apparently did not accept this name in this place, and said it is equivalent to Diodia tricocca and that he was not going to add another name to our taxonomy; this comment apparently responds to use of this name by some Texan contemporaries (e.g., Reverchon 1528, 2024, Hall 281, Bush 236, Bodin 8 Aug 1891, all MO).
