Notes: This species is characterized by its relatively robust obovate leaves, large inflorescences with numerous rather small white to yellow flowers, anthers about as large as the corolla and held mostly exserted from its throat, and relatively small numerous capsules. The corollas have tubes 7-8 mm long and swollen in the basal 2/3 then constricted near the throat, and lobes 5-6 mm long. Rustia dressleri is only known from a small region in central eastern Panama; several other Rubiaceae also appear to be endemic there, e.g., Psychotria insignis. Rustia dressleri is generally similar to Rustia costaricensis and Rustia alba.
Distribution: Humid forest at 50-200 m on the Atlantic coast of eastern Panama.
