Perennial, caespitose herbs with a thick taproot. Stem erect or ascending, up to 30 cm tall, covered with hispidulus soft white hairs, more dense at the upper part. Cauline leaves sessile – shortly petiolate, 2–5 cm long, 0.5–0.8 (–1.0) cm wide, discolours, green, ventrally pale green. Basal leaves withering at anthesis, marcescent, scaly, petiole ca 1 cm long, cauline leaves sessile – shortly petiolate, lamina 2 – 5 cm long, 0.5 – 0.8 (–1.0) cm wide, lanceolate – oblanceolate or elliptic, discolorous, dorsally green, ventrally pale green, mid vein distinct, glabrous or sparsely villous–strigillose above, sparsely glandular beneath, somewhat rolled with 2–3 shallow teeth, apex acute–mucronate, base attenuate–cuneate, margins entire, sparsely ciliate, upper leaves similar, 1.2 –1.5 cm long, 0.3–0.6 cm wide, lanceolate. Capitula terminal, solitary or 2 on each branch, 1–2 cm across, bracteate, peduncle naked, sparsely–densely pubescent, intermixed with stipitate glands. Involucre campanulate, 8–10 mm in diameter. Phyllaries 2–3–seriate, scarious, erose, glabrescent–sparsely pubescent, lanceolate–linear, acuminate with pointed tips, outer phyllaries 4–5 mm long, 1.5–2 mm wide, middle ones 5–6 mm long, ca 1.2 mm wide, midvein distinctly ridged proximally in outer and middle phyllaries, innermost 7–8 mm long, 1–1.5 mm wide. Ray florets pink to white, 15–25, ligules hairy, 6–12 mm long, 1.5 – 2.5 mm wide, corolla tube 3.5–4 mm long. Disc florets campanulate, yellow, 4–6 mm long, tube 2–2.5 mm long, limb 2 – 3.5 mm long including 1 mm long, triangular lobes. Cypselas 3–4 mm long, 1–2 mm wide, pale brownish, linear, 4–ribbed, densely strigillose, eglandular. Pappus 2–3–seriate, outermost series scaly, scales up to 1.5 mm long, middle ones bristly, bristles ca 4 mm long, inner most 5–6 mm long, dirty white–buff.
