Annotation: This name based on Justicia hirsuta Jacq. and Barleria hirsuta (Jacq.) Jacq. pro parte. Justicia hirsuta was based on a mixed collection of leaves and stems of a species of Gonzalagunia (Rubiaceae) and flowers of Odontonema nitida (Acanthaceae). Lamarck accepted the name Justicia hirsuta Jacq. for a species of Acanthaceae [Tabl. Encycl. 1(1): 38, 1791] so his name Lygistum spicatum was clearly intended to apply to its Rubiaceae element. !CMT 2016
