Herbs perennial, cespitose, scapose; caudex several branched, covered with persistent leaves of previous seasons. Stems 5–15 cm, unbranched, pubescent throughout with simple and long-stalked, 2-rayed trichomes 0.3–1 mm, these mixed with smaller, 2–4-rayed trichomes 0.1–0.5 mm. Basal leaves rosulate, petiolate, oblanceolate, 1–3.1 cm × 2–7 mm, entire; abaxial surfaces densely pubescent with stalked, (2–)4-rayed trichomes 0.2–0.8 mm; adaxial surfaces mostly with long-stalked, 2-rayed trichomes 0.6–1.3 mm, these sometimes mixed with fewer 3- or 4-rayed and simple trichomes; petiolar base and margin ciliate with simple trichomes 0.5–1.2 mm; cauline leaves of flowering stems absent or rarely 1, oblong, entire, sessile, pubescent as basal leaves. Racemes ebracteate, 12–43-flowered, elongated in fruit; rachis pubescent as stem, not flexuous; lowermost fruiting pedicels (6–)10–17 mm, divaricate to ascending, straight or curved, pubescent as stem. Flowers: sepals oblong, 2–2.5 mm, pubescent with short-stalked, 2–4-rayed trichomes; petals yellow, linear-oblanceolate, 3–3.5 × 0.5–1 mm; anthers oblong, 0.5–0.6 mm, exserted. Fruits oblong to linear-oblong, 6–10 × 2.5–4 mm, flattened, slightly twisted or plane, pubescent with short-stalked, cruciform trichomes 0.07–0.25 sometimes mixed with fewer, 2- or 3-rayed trichomes; style (0.8–)1.2–3.5 mm; ovules and seeds 8–24 per fruit. Seeds oblong, flattened, 1–1.2 × 0.6–0.8 mm, wingless.
