Notes : This species is characterized by its medium-sized leaves, stipules with truncate sheaths and triangular lobes, pedunculate corymbiform inflorescences, and tubular corollas that are glabrous on the outside. Palicourea subalatoides is generally similar to Palicourea gentryi, and in particular it is similar to Palicourea subalata, whic is less frequently collected (though neither of these seems to be common).
Distribution : Premontane wet forest vegetation at 800-1160 m on the eastern Andean slopes in Ecuador.
