Notes: This species is known from very few specimens, and can be recognized by its rather small leaves (for Ladenbergia), few-flowered cymose inflorescences, rather large cupuliform calyx limbs, and medium-sized white corollas. It was characterized by Andersson as having the leaves glabrous on the lower surface, but additional specimens that appear to belong to this species have hirtellous to tomentulose lower leaf surfaces so this character may be variable. Ladenbergia lehmanniana is similar to L. rubiginosa, but the latter species has flowers about twice as large.
Distribution: Western Colombia and northwestern Ecuador, in wet forests at 450-1800 m.
