Notes: This species is characterized by its branched shrubby habit, relatively quite narrow leaves that are paired but appear verticillate due to the developed leaves borne in axillary clusters, inflorescences with a few, somewhat short scorpioid axes, and small blue flowers. Declieuxia spergulifolia varies markedly in width and length of the leaves and size of the plant. The shorter forms with relatively narrower leaves resemble Psyllocarpus, while the plants with relatively longer broader leaves are remarkably similar to Arcytophyllum of the Andes and Hedyotis nigricans of North America. The relatively more robust form of Declieuxia spergulifolia is similar to the narrow-leaved form of Declieuxia fruticosa, which generally lacks clusters of small leaves in the axils along the main stems. Declieuxia spergulifolia is also similar to Declieuxia juniperina.
Distribution: Campo rupestre and cerrado at 1150-1350 m in southeastern Brazil (Minas Gerais), in the Espinhaço highlands.
