Annual herbs, simple or slightly branched, glabrous, 10 – 50 cm tall. Leaves imparipinnate, basal ones withering, auricled, auricles toothed, lobes irregular, 3-5, irregularly toothed, triangular, lanceolate to broadly ovate, terminal ones lunate to runcinate or lanceolate and acuminate, glabrous or sparingly papillose below. Capitula numerous corymbose-paniculate; peduncles long; drooping after fruiting. Involucre 5 – 7 x 2 – 3 mm, accrescent in fruit, up to 12 mm long; outer phyllaries c. 4, c. 1 mm long; inner ones usually 5, linear-lanceolate, much longer, sparsely papillose on the mid vein outside. Ligules usually 5, yellow, longer than involucre, tube glabrous. Cypselas brownish to dark-brown, 2 – 3.5 mm long, pubescent (somewhat papillose), 10-15-ribbed. Pappus 3.5 – 6 mm long, easily detached.
