Notes:
This species has a somewhat robust glabrescent habit, medium-sized oblanceolate to obovate leaves, pedunculate cymose inflorescences borne with and below the leaves, rotate purple-red corollas with tubes 0.5-1 mm long and the lobes three or more times as long as the tube, and medium-sized subglobose fruits. The inflorescences comprise a peduncle with an umbelliform group of 3-5 flowers that have pedicels of generally equal length. This species is not well documented as yet, at least outside Venezuela. Hoffmannia aroensis is similar to Hoffmannia nicotianifolia from Mexico and Central America, and Hoffmannia larensis of Venezuela.
