Assessment rationale:
Based on a 2 × 2 km grid cell size, the AOO is estimated at 32 km2, below the upper threshold for the “Endangered” category under subcriterion B2, and its extent of occurrence (EOO) has been calculated as 468 km2, below the upper threshold for the “Endangered” category under subcriterion B1. Dinklageodoxa scandens is threatened throughout its range by habitat loss through clearance for small-scale agriculture, and urbanization. Forest loss is high across the species range, for example, 60% of original forest cover has been lost in Liberia (Robertson 2001). Moreover, the species was known from historical collections made in the area of Monrovia, which have probably disappeared due to the expansion of the city. Consequently, the species is preliminarily assessed as Endangered under criterion B since it is probably known from 4-5 locations.
