Draba soratensis Wedd., Ann. Sci. Nat. Bot. V. 1: 287. 1864. TYPE: Bolivia, [Dep. La Paz,] vicinity of Sorata, Juriguana, near Anilaya, Apr 1860, 5000 m, G. Mandon 893 (holotype, P!; isotypes, B!, BM!, G!, K!).

     Herbs perennial, rarely cespitose, scapose or subscapose; caudex simple or rarely branched and the branches covered with some petiolar remnants of previous years. Stems (3–)8–25(–50) cm, rather slender, erect or subdecumbent, pubescent throughout with stalked forked or stellate trichomes sometimes mixed with simple ones to 1.5 mm. Basal leaves rosulate; petiole ciliate, often persistent; leaf blade spatulate, obovate, oblong, or lanceolate, (0.8–)1.2–2.2(–2.7) cm × 3–7 mm, abaxially uniformly pubescent with stalked, usually cruciform or rarely 3-rayed stellate trichomes, the rays always simple, adaxially usually with a mixture of simple, stalked forked, and stalked cruciform trichomes, margin entire or sometimes with 1 or rarely 2 minute teeth on each side, apex obtuse or occasionally subacute; cauline leaves absent or few, sessile, entire, with indumentum similar to that of basal leaves. Racemes corymbose, elongated considerably in fruit; peduncle 3–10 cm; bracts absent or rarely lowermost flowers bracteate; fruiting pedicel divaricate, straight or slightly sigmoid, pubescent as stem, 3–8(–10) mm. Flowers: sepals erect, soon caducous, oblong, (1.5–)2–2.5 mm, (0.8–)1–1.2 mm, pubescent with stalked, forked, 3-rayed, and cruciform trichomes, base not saccate; petals white, drying pinkish or purplish distally, spatulate, 2–3 × 0.6–1(–1.2) mm, attenuate to a clawlike base, apex emarginate; anthers ovate to suborbicular, 0.2–0.3 mm; nectar glands confluent, subtending bases of all filaments; ovules 20–26 per ovary. Fruits narrowly oblong to oblong-lanceolate, strongly compressed, 6–10(–11) × 2–2.5 mm; valves glabrous or pubescent with a mixture of simple and short-stalked forked trichomes; style 0.1–0.3 mm; stigma small, entire. Seeds brown, ovate, compressed, biseriate, 1–1.2 × 0.6–0.8 mm.

Flowering: Dec.–Jan.

Habitat: moist puna, steep rocky slopes, dry pastured slopes.

Elevation: 3600–5000 m.

Distribution: Bolivia (Cochabamaba, La Paz), Peru (Cuzco, Junin, Lima).
