Notes: This species is characterized by its stipules united around the stem into a tubular sheath, its symmetrically elliptic stiff-textured leaves, its paniculiform inflorescences with small flowers, and its rather large ellipsoid fruits with ridged pyrenes. The dried specimens frequently have a yellowed color. In general this species is similar to Rudgea palicoureoides, but Rudgea citrifolia has much larger fruits. Rudgea citrifolia is also similar in general aspect to Rudgea crassiloba.
Distribution: Probably found in humid forest; rather widely distributed in the Lesser Antilles (Antiqua, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Vincent).
