Notes: This species is characterized by its shrub or small tree habit, rather narrowly elliptic or oblanceolate leaves, corymbiform lax inflorescences with well developed peduncles, tubular white to pink corollas, anther exserted on well developed filaments, and rather small ellipsoid capsules. The inflorescences are pyramidal, and apparently not markedly deflexed or drooping althtough the flowers may droop. The corollas have tubes 12-18 mm long and lobes 5-7 mm long. Rustia gracilis is generally similar to Rustia angustifolia. Delprete (1999) reported this species as rare and only rarely collected since 1900; since then it has been documented occasionally.
Distribution: Humid Atlantic forest at in southeastern Brazil (Rio de Janeiro: Serra dos Orgãos and Serra de Estrella).
