Plants up to 90 cm tall with ± woody rhizome. Stem unbranched, distinctly ribbed, ± glabrate on the lower side, glandular pubescent especially on the upper part, becoming dense when reaching near the capitula. Leaves 2-7 x 0.5-2.75 cm, elliptic to obovate, entire, petiole 1-4.5 cm, upper leaves becoming shorter and almost sessile, glandular pubescent. Capitula solitary, rarely 2, glandular villous at base, 3-6 cm in diameter. Phyllaries herbaceous, narrowly ovate to ovate lanceolate, 1.4-2.5 cm x 1.5-2.75 mm, acuminate. Florets yellow, ray florets corolla 2-3 cm long; disc floret corolla 4.5-5.3 mm long, cypselas monomorphic, elliptic, brown, 1.5-2 mm long, pappus 6-8 mm long, creamish – somewhat reddish.
