Herbs annual (or perennating), erect, 15-30 cm tall, sparsely branched from the base with glandular and eglandular hairs. Leaves simple, suborbicular to broadly ovate, more or less cordate, usually with stalked glands on the margins and blade, apex rounded or slightly apiculate, usually prominently 5-veined, 25-45 mm long, (15-) 20-40 mm broad; petiole up to 3.5 cm long in the lower leaves. Inflorescence 15-30-flowered lax raceme, bracteate or ebracteate, increasing conspicuously in length in fruit. Flowers about 7 mm across, yellow with lilac veins; pedicels 5-6 mm long, increasing up to 10 mm in fruit, often becoming horizontal with erect fruits. Sepals 3-4 mm long, 2 mm broad, ovate, acute, sparsely glandular. Petals dimorphic, two linear, lanceolate and two broader with triangular limb, 5-6 mm long, 1.5-2 (-2.5) mm broad. Stamens 4, about twice the length of petals, conspicuously exserted. Capsules 18-28 mm long, 4 mm broad excluding 9-12 mm long style, oblong-ellipsoid, more or less acute at the apex, covered with stalked glands; stipe about 1.5 mm long; seeds many, about 1 mm in diam., glabrous, brownish, almost smooth or hardly granular.
