Notes: This species is characterized by its medium-sized elliptic leaves that are subsessile to shortly petiolate and rounded to cordulate at the base, puberulous corymbiform inflorescences with three principal axes, short lobed calyx lobes, white corollas wiht tubes 3.5-4 mm long and rounded lobes. This species is known from only a few collections in a small area; several other Rubiaceae species are also apparently endemic to that area (e.g., Psychotria insignis Standl.) or are found there and disjunct in northern Colombia (e.g., Psychotria fendleri Standl.).
Distribution: Wet forest at 10-500 m in Caribbean western through eastern Panama.
