Notes: This species is found in wet montane vegetation in southern Central America and northwestern South America. It is notable for its creamy to yellow corollas with quite well developed tubes. Information on specimen labels note that it is sometimes visited by hummingbirds, and in this pollination mode and the tubular corollas it resembles Palicourea rather than "typical" Psychotria in the Neotropics; the species epithet refers to this convergence in corolla form and pollination between these two genera.
