Annotation:
Orignally published as "interior". For the genus “Acer”, the “-er” ending was considered as denoting masculine gender (in classical usage). However, botanical usage has made it neuter. Britton published “Acer interior”, where “interior", as an adjectival epithet, the ending “-or” may be masculine, feminine or neuter. But “interior” is an adjective in comparative degree, where it is masculine or feminine, whereas “interius” is neuter as is the gender of the genus. As a result, Britton’s “Acer interior” is correctable to “Acer interius”. (K. Gandhi, 2020)
