Distribution:
Distribution: Afghanistan, Pakistan.
Comment/Acknowledgements:
Doubtfully specifically separate from
Nepeta podostachys
. This and the other species in the
Nepeta podostachys
complex grow in a wide range of habitats, though generally in proximity to streams. Ecological variation probably accounts for some of the polymorphism in the complex; whether hybridization and introgression also plays a part is not known but seems possible. Plants with male-sterile flowers occur in the complex - a phenomenon in the Labiatae not infrequently associated with taxonomically difficult groups (e.g.
Mentha
and
Ziziphora
).
