Dryopetalon crenatum var. racemosum Rollins, Contr. Dudley Herb. 3: 203. 1941. TYPE: Mexico, Lower California, Esperitor Santo Island, beach, 1 Apr 1931, G. N. Collins, T. H. Kearney & J. H. Kempton 125 (holotype, GH!).

     Herbs, annual, sparsely pubescent or glabrous above. Stems 3–6 dm, erect, branched above. Basal leaves petiolate; leaf blade ovate to lanceolate, 2–6 × 1–3 cm, crenate, shallowly dentate, or entire, sparsely pubescent; cauline leaves short petiolate, similar to basal leaves in shape and margin, gradually reduced in size upward, not auriculate at base. Racemes lax or nearly so, elongated in fruit; fruiting pedicels divaricate, 5–11(–13) mm, slender, glabrous. Sepals oblong, ca. 3 × 1.5 mm; petals white, spatulate to obovate, 4.5–6 mm, 4–6-lobed, apex obtuse; claw ca. 2 mm, papillate at base; filaments papillate to densely pilose at base; athers oblong, ca. 1 mm. Fruit linear, 1–2 cm × 1–1.5 mm, straight; valves glabrous; style 1.5–2.5 mm. Seeds oblong, ca. 1.5 mm, plump, wingless; cotyledons incumbent.

Flowering: Feb–Mar.

Habitat: beaches, foothills, ledges, mountain slopes.

Distribution. Mexico (Baja California Sur).
