Tufted perennial with softly hairy parts. Leaves 3-5-pinnatisect, leaflets of ultimate order cuneate, 3-dentate at apex, shorter than the scape. Scape 12-18 cm at anthesis, elongated to 30 cm or more after flowering. Involucral leaves similar to basal, sessile, less compound. Peduncles twice as long as the involucre. Flowers solitary, nodding, dull reddish-brown. Sepals sericeous outside, glabrous within, about as long as the stamens.
