Halimolobos boelckei Martinez-Laborde, Hickenia 11: 63. 1992. TYPE: Argentina, San Juan, Depto Valle Fértil, Sa. de Elizondo, ceros y alrededores, 1700 m, 17 Dec 1987, M. Múlgura, C. Antuña & E. Ulibarri 880 (holotype, SI!).

Herbs annual or perhaps biennial, densely pubescent throughout. Stems erect, often single from base, branched above, (3-)4-9(-11) dm tall, pubescent with 3-7-rayed trichomes 0.1-0.4 mm, these sometimes mixed proximally with soft simple or 2-rayed trichomes to 1.2 mm. Basal leaves not rosulate, soon withered; middle cauline leaves sessile, auriculate to amplexicaul, oblong to lanceolate, 2-8(-12) ´ 0.5-2(-3.5) cm, pubescent with 4-8-rayed trichomes 0.1-0.4 mm, these sometimes mixed with soft simple or 2-rayed ones to 1 mm. Racemes elongated considerably in fruit; fruiting pedicels horizontal to divaricate ascending, densely pubescent, (2-)5-12(-15) mm. Sepals oblong, green to purplish, densely pubescent, 1.5-2.5 ´ 0.5-1 mm; petals white, oblanceolate, 1-2.5(-3.5) ´ 0.3-0.7( -1) mm, rarely obsolete or absent; filaments 1.5-2.5 mm; anthers oblong, 0.4-0.8 mm; ovules (100-)150-250 per ovary. Fruits narrowly oblong to linear, 0.8-1.5(-2) cm ´ 1.5-2 mm; valves densely pubescent with subsessile trichomes; style 0.2-0.6(-0.8) mm. Seeds oblong, biseriate or appearing multiseriate, 0.4-0.55(-6.5) ´ 0.25-0.35(-0.4) mm.

Flowering: Sep-Feb.

Habitat: moist banks near stream.

Elevation: 300-3500 m.

Distribution: Argentina (Buenos Aires, Catamarca, Chaco, Córdoba, Corrientes, Entre Rios, Formosa, Jujuy, La Pampa, La Rioja, Mendoza, Salta, San Juan, San Luis, Santa Fe, Santiago de Estero, Tucuman), Bolivia (La Paz, Santa Cruz, Tarija), Peru (Apurimac, Cuzco, Moquegua, Tacna), Uruguay.
